Applications are invited for the selection of guest faculty to teach M.sc. Fashion and Apparel Design Course for the academic year 2018-19. Candidates processing Master’s degree in Apparel  Technology and Management /Fashion and Apparel Design or equivalent subject are eligible. Preference shall be given to candidates with Ph.D./Post-graduate teaching / Industrial experience. Interested candidates may submit an application along with enclosures to the co-ordinator, Apparel Technology and Managemen, Central College Campus, Bangalore University,  Bangalore on or before 8th August 2018. About Fashion And Apparel Design

Apparel designers, also called clothing or fashion designers, conceptualize and create items of clothing. They often specialize in one type of design, such as casual, evening or active wear. Common duties include tracking current fashion trends and predicting future ones, sketching new designs, selecting patterns and fabrics to use in garments and overseeing production. They may then show items to creative directors, clients or retailers, depending on if the garments are to be custom designed or mass produced.

The apparel fashion industry is one of the largest industries in India. The global fashion industry’s expenditure involving millions of rupees each year on soft goods ranging from the latest fashion apparel to a basic garment. The course helps the students to prepare for the fast-paced exciting apparel industry. Knowledgeable faculty and well-equipped laboratories make it a great place to develop talents. The program enables the students for careers in apparel and soft goods design and development. The syllabus includes apparel construction, patternmaking and computer-aided design. Fashion designers use their creative and technical skills to design products, develop patterns, monitor quality control and assurance and coordinate sourcing activities. Students who are creative and technologically savvy have an advantage in today’s global fashion industry.

On completion of the course, students can choose from diverse employment opportunities in the industry such as – Assistant Designer, Production Assistant, Fabric Specialist, Trend Manager and Assistant Manager of Quality Assurance, Designer, Milliner, and Costume Designer for Film/ Theatre, Bridal Designer, Illustrator, Pattern Maker, Stylist, Retail Merchandiser, Visual Merchandiser and CAD Designer.
